Her identity comes solely from the pages of the "Edwards Heirs" newsletter, published in 1925. The wife of Thomas Edwards is given as "Elizabeth Nickols."

Three separate research efforts refute the narrative provided in the book and tie the narrative to fraud perpetrated against heirs of the Edwards trying to claim 77 acres of land in New York City.
