Biography

Robert Nichols was born 28 June 1739 in Dighton, Bristol County, Massachusetts Bay. He is the son of William Nichols and Johannah Paul.

On 23 Oct 1766 in Spencer, Worcester County, Mass, Robert Nichols married Grisel Unknown of Paxton, Worcester Co, Mass. After Grisel's death in 1790, Robert married for the second time to Sarah Baldwin on 24 Nov 1791 in Templeton, Worcester County, Mass.

Robert Nicoll (sic) left a will dated 11 April 1805 which named his beloved wife Betsy; oldest son William, sons John, Eliezer (sic) and Edward named executor. Daughters Martha and Hannah both unmarried. This will was proved in Barre, Worcester Co, MA on 6 Aug 1805. Robert Nichols/Nicoll died 25 July 1805.

In his will there was a 95 acre homestead mentioned in Worcester County and a 42 AC property in Hampshire County, Ma.

Research Notes

Work is needed to confirm that the BETSY Nichols named in Robert's will is the same person as Sarah Baldwin. Was her name Sarah Elizabeth?
