A daughter by name Catarina was born to Erik Jansson Norberg (and his wife) at Södra Kyrkbacken in Falun 17 July 1763. The churching of the mother was held a month later.[1] We find the family of mineworker Erik Jansson Norberg in the household record covering 1776 to 1784. His wife is Margta Ersdotter. She may have been a widow when they married, the order of the children is not all that clear. It may be necessary to look up the births of all of them to understand how it fits together.[2]
Catharina Norberg left Falun in 1782, to serve in the household of Anders Påhlsson in Vi by in Hamrånge parish.[3] In 1784 she changed employer and went to Vifors and the household of miller Anders Westlund, where she stayed for a year. She went to Gävle in 1785. So did the miller's eldest son, Anders.[4] They both came back to the miller's household in 1786, but when the miller Westlund and his family moved to Bollnäs in 1788,[5] Cathrina went to serve in the vicary of Hamrånge for a year.[6]
But when we next meet Catharina Norberg she is back, serving with the family of miller Anders Westlund - now in Röste, Bollnäs parish. She is noted as having arrived from Hamrånge in 1789. The Westlund family arrived from Hamrånge in 1788.[7]
27 April 1791 unwed Cajsa Norberg in Röste gave birth to a son, who was named Erik.[8] There is a note in the household record that she was fined for adultery. No mention of a father for the child.[9]
1793-1794: Catharina was in another household in Röste, where she gave birth to daughter Christina, who died as a baby. Again Catharina is fined[10]
1810-1811: Röste with son Hans (he went to Arbrå in 1811)[17]
Cathrina Norberg joined her soldier son Erik and his family in Arbrå in 1816. She is noted as ailing when she moves in.[18] She spent the rest of her days in the household of her son in Hensätter and lived to be 85 years old. She died 6 March 1849.[19]
