Biography

Eleanor (Nowland) Davis was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to New South Wales

Eleanor was convicted in Roscommon in 1821 she was given a seven year sentence for telling her master a lie. and was transported to Australia on the John Bull which arrived in Sydney 18 Dec 1821. The John Bull set sail from Ireland 25 July 1821. There were other 2 stories one says she stole 1/2 a loaf of bread and another was theft of clothing.

Eleanor's second husband was William Davis they married at Freeman Reach NSW .

Ellen was buried 6 March 1884 in Church of England Cemetery Bumberry She then died 5-3-1884 aged 97 years and is buried at 'Bumberry' near Parkes NSW. She is buried with a tiny bag of Irish soil. The Property 'Bumberry" is still in the Davis name.
