Biography

Margaret was born in 1731. It is believed that she is the daughter of Daniel O'Rear and Esther Thorne.[1][2][3]

Margaret married Captain Scarlett[e] Madden sometime before 1748.[4][5] Margaret and Scarlett[e] had six children: Fanny (b. c. 1748, d. 1784), Elizabeth (b. c. 1748, d. 1803), George (b. c. 1750, d. 1 July 1782), Unknown (b. 1751, d. 1783), Margaret (b. c . 1755), Frances (b. 1763, d. c. 1850).[1]

On 4 July 1768, there was a court hearing regarding a slave, Crafford, belonging to Scarlet Madden, who was being indicted for burglary and intent to murder, Margaret, the wife of Scarlet Madden. The court found him not guilty. The court also found him not guilty of a second charge of burglary of the meat house. The court found him guilty of a third charge of theft of a blanket, a shirt and a hat, but not to the degree that he should be punished by death. The court ordered the Sheriff to give him 39 lashes.[6]

Margaret's husband Scarlett[e] Madden will leaves part of his estate to the following children:[7][8] Elizabeth Glasscock, Frances Reno, Peggy (Margaret) Cox, Franny (Frances) Newman; Grandchild: Betsey Madden; Wife: Margaret Madden; As well as the following: John Posey Newman, Kesia Stone.

O'Rear-28 and O'Rear-55 do not represent the same person because: Different parents, different spouse.

I've removed her parents. Now I, or you, need to add her proper parents back.
This Margaret O'Rear, married to Scarlett Madden appears to be the daughter of Daniel Lanson O'Rear and Esther, not of John O'Rea and Mary Peck.
