Biography

George Ody was baptised on 26 Nov 1786 at Lydiard Tregoze, WIltshire, son of George and Mary.[1]

George Ody of Lydiard Tregoze married Hester Woolford of Lydiard Tregoze on 28 Jun 1810 at Lydiard Tregoze, Wiltshire, in the presence of Richard Ody and William Beasant.[2]

In 1832 George Ody was the Executor of the will of his father George Ody of Shaw, Lydiard Millicent, Yeoman.[7]

Hester Ody of Ashton Keynes was buried on 30 Sep 1851 at Purton, Wiltshire.[8]

It is presumed he was the George Ody of full age, Farmer of St Catherine adjacent, Gloucester, widower, who married Alice Webb of full age, spinster of St Catherine adjacent, Gloucester, by Banns on 31 Jan 1853 at St John the Baptist Gloucester. Their fathers were recorded as George Ody, Farmer, and Reuben Webb, Labourer.[9][10]

George Ody of Ashton Keynes was buried on 17 Jan 1855 at Lydiard Tregoze, Wiltshire, with a given age of 68.[11] The death of George Ody was registered in Q1 1855 in the District of Cricklade. The entry in the index gives his age as 48 but presumably this is an error.[12]

Alice Ody of full age, widow of Ashton Keynes, and Charles Woolford of full age, bachelor of Ashton Keynes, were married by Banns on 03 Nov 1855 at Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire. Their fathers were Reuben Webb, Labourer, and Richard Woolford, Labourer.[13]

1851: George Ody resident at Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire, age 64, Farmer of 192acres employing 2 men & 1 boy, born Lydiard Tregoze, Wiltshire, married to Hester Ody age 60 born Lydiard Tregoze. Anthony Ody son 17 Waggoner born Braydon, Alice Webb 40 U Dairy Maid born Brinkworth.[15]

George Ody was baptised 26/11/1786 Lydiard Tregoze the son of George & Mary Ody.
