Biography

Evan possibly came from the corner of Culpeper Co., Va., where it touches Stafford and Fauquier counties- Sharon Ogan

DNA links Evan Ogan with Peter and Euphemia Bevan of Frederick Co., VA. Chet Ogan has DNA matches to descendants of Morris and Ephraim Ogan, his sons.

At this point it is still speculation that Evan Ogan is the son of Peter amd Phamy Ogan. DNA seems to confirm this. It would make sense because the other sons of Peter and Phamy all named a son and/or grandson Evan. Phamy Bevin had a brother named Evan. This line also has Jenkins connections, which are also found with Lewis B. Ogan’s son John, who first md. Elizabeth Passamore, then Keziah and Zilpha Jenkins.

From Sharon Ogan Kathy & Fred, may I jump in here? I am a direct descendent of Evan Ogan & Susannah Fritter through their son Lewis. Yes, Evan was from Culpeper County, Va, b. 1785. I have a Bible record. His wife, Susannah Fritter was from Stafford County, Va. Her mother was Elizabeth Horton from Fauquier County, Va, so rather think the Ogans lived in that corner of Culpeper that touches on Stafford & Fauquier. I have a lot of Fritter info I got a few years ago from Albert Fritter of Stafford County. It goes back to England. Kathy, I need time to go back over your info on Er to compare with mine. Yes, he was married 1st to Elizabeth Tom, dau. of Abraham Tom. I am mixed up on the children too, so will see if you have straightened me out on them. I have been to Er's grave in Pike Co. and also to Evan & Susannah's grave in Muskingum Co. Evan's children: John, Er, Lee, Lewis, Peter, Morris, Reason (died in infancy), Ephriam, Marie, Lot. I have had contact with another of Er's descendents - Linda Ogan Tallman of Van Buren, In. She has a marvelous picture of Adam Ogan. Does this help? I have a lot of Ogan info. Theory is 5 brothers came from Ireland before the Revolution - John, Peter, William, Thomas, & another name unknown, & settled in Va & Pa. Wm & Thos in the Revolution. Others I've corresponded with think Wm. is Evan's father, but no proof. Sharon

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Evan by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Evan:
