Following his death, his lands were seized, including 279 acres on Haw River and an additional 629 acres elsewhere. The Sheriff was required by a jury to put Elizabeth Tatum, widow, in possession of 209 of the acres, including the dwelling house of "said Harture [sic] Tatum, deceased." (Deed Book 18, p 514) [is this Brunswick or Guilford???]^[3]

They were married 27 February 1797. ^[3] In 1845 he was named in the will of James Cole, his maternal grandfather. ^[3] The 1845 Guilford, NC will of his maternal grandfather, James Cole, which bequeaths the land on which Allen and Caroline Cole Tatum lived (owned by Cole) to his grandchildren Guilia? Tatum, James Tatum, Robert Tatum, Pinkney Tatum, America Tatum and George M. Tatum ^[3]
