John was born 2 Feb 1836, in Newtyle, Angus, Scotland, United Kingdom to John and Marjory Crawford Ogilvy [1]

Isabella b. 25 Jun 1873 Dundee, Angus, Scotland, UK[14]
Occupation
John seems to have been a man that found him self working with horses and either moving land or items behind them. To be a Carter or a Ploughman you needed to take care an tend to the horses that would pull the wagon or plow. We find him in the 1861 census listed as a Ploughman[5], and this could be the reason that his children were born in different places, but none of them far from Cargill[5] where he is listed in 1861. They would travel to the farms where he was hired to work. In 1871 he moved to pulling a cart/wagon and he now probably traiding or delievering goods for others.[9]. He and the family are now living at 45 Cow Gate St. Andrews, Angus.[9] Just before he left for Canada we find he and his family in Liff and Benvie, Angus[15]His occupation there is a Shop Porter.

John left Scotland on the Lake Nepigon before, 29 Sep 1881, when he arrived in Quebec, Quebec, Canada[16]
His family followed him on The Buenos Ayrean. The ship arrived at Quebec, Quebec, Canada on the 10 May 1883.[17]

He passed away 30 Jul 1887 in Sarnia, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. [18]
