Death
Some family genealogies state that Preston died in May or June 1664.[4] But a review of the war records clearly states that he "suddenly" died of typhoid on 16 January 1864 at the hospital on Camp Nelson in Kentucky. He was buried the same day. The military estimated his age at death to be around 45, but they also remarked that they knew little about Preston.[3]
