Thomas purchased his first land in Derry Township, Lancaster County, in what is now Dauphin County, on 8 May 1776 from John Kerr.[1] His will was offered for probate in February 1797, with his son William serving as executor.[2] By 1800, William, son of Thomas, had recorded a deed with himself as grantee and his siblings as grantors.[3] By 1805 the family of Thomas Ogle left Pennsylvania. William, son of Thomas, sold the Dauphin County property and purchased land in Butler County, Ohio.[4]
Most of Thomas Ogle's children and his widow, Jane Ogle nee Miller, died in Butler County, Ohio.[5] Reportedly the children of his son, William, pushed on west to Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Iowa and Oregon.
Thomas' service in the American Revolution,[6] has been proven for membership in DAR; he served as a private in the Lancaster County Militia.[7]
