Biography

Daniel OLMSTED was born in 1682 in Norwalk, Fairfield Co., CT to Lieut. John OLMSTED and Mary BENEDICT.

He married Hannah KETCHUM (sometimes KETCHAM) on 9 May 1711 in Ridgefield, Fairfield Co., CT. Their children:

  2. Samuel OLMSTED
  3. Deacon Nathan/Nathaniel OLMSTED
  4. Richard OLMSTED
  5. Ambrose OLMSTED
  6. Hannah OLMSTED
  7. Jonathan OLMSTED
  8. Elizabeth OLMSTED Stebbins
  9. Ezekiel OLMSTED

Daniel and Hannah lived in Ridgefield their entire lives.

Daniel and his brother Richard and twenty-two others bought, with the permission of the General Assembly at Hartford, on the 30th of Sept. 1708, of the Indian, Sachem Catoonah, and his associates, for L100, a tract of land (2000 acres), now Ridgefield, Conn.[1]

Daniel Olmstead passed away in 1749 in RIdgefield and is buried next to his wife in the Titicus Cemetery in Ridgefield.[2]

This Daniel Olmstead is #3965 in the Olmsted Family in America and is a grandson of Richard of Norwalk. He married Hannah Ketchum, dau of Joseph & Mary (Lindel) Ketchem.

The child, Nathan, listed in the genealogy belongs to Jonathan Olmsted #75 and Hannah Meakins.

Daniel was born in 1682. He passed away in 1749.

I believe that prior to 1708, Ridgefield was a part of Norwalk.

Considering that Ridgefield was not settled until 1708 (per Wikipedia), Daniel could not have been born there in 1682.
