His middle name is Clark, btw.

Also why are half of his brothers showing up as private and the rest not? They are all alive so all of them should be private except for their parents who are both passed on.

Due to privacy reasons, middle names are omitted on living persons. Those individuals who are considered Notable and capable of having their privacy lifted to the yellow level have been updated so that they can be seen. Those that do not meet the living Notable privacy standards for WikiTree have not.

Okay I am still confused. Anyone who watched the numerous shows done on the family, including the one aired this weekend in Utah (Which is up on YouTube) knows the names of all the siblings.

The entire family is famous so honestly all the names should be visible as famous people. (Meaning all of Donny and his siblings) or none of them should.

Not being contentious but from what is out there about the family...

The profiles of the Osmond Family members were created quite some time ago (2011) and didn't necessarily follow WikiTree's current standards of notability and privacy. Sometimes it can seem silly, but for liability reasons, our policies are much stricter than many other sites out there. Under WikiTree's guidelines, not all family members (wives, children, etc.) would qualify as Notable, although the brothers and Marie certainly would. I'll spend some time reviewing them to determine if any changes need to be made.

I was talking solely about Donny and his siblings *Not* the wives and children.

Also I think it should be fixed. You can't have set standards and wave off some profies just because they were made a decade ago. Making them all private or visible would take less then five minutes of an admins time and then everyone is following the same rules and standards.

Let me elaborate a little further, as my prior comment was intended not as an excuse but rather as an explanation of how we go to where with are with the Osmond family profiles. In fact, I completely agree with your comments. We have clear policy on who is considered notable and who is not, as well as whose profiles can be open for public viewing and whose cannot.

My comment on the age of these profiles is simply to say that they were created before our current standards were put into place. So why haven't we fixed them? The Notables leadership team consists of two individuals, Scott Fulkerson and myself. Together, we oversee more than 60,000 notable profiles. Additionally, not all of these profiles are managed by the Notables Project and there are some complex administrative procedures we have to go through to fix them. (This probably relates more to the Osmond grandchildren, many of whom are private individuals but whose profiles are somehow opened for public viewing!)

As promised in my prior message, I have been reviewing each profile to see what can be done.

1) As the Osmond parents are both deceased, their profiles have been fully opened.

2) The eldest two sons are not considered Notable and must be left private.

3) The remaining sons and Marie are now all listed as Living Notables.

4) Merrill Osmond has two profiles. The other profile manager has been contacted about making a merge.

5) I have cleaned up the brothers' profiles and will be adding photos soon. (For privacy reasons, we do tend to keep living notable profiles short and simple.)

6) All of the Osmond grandchildren should be unlisted. Although some are performers, they do not reach the level of notability required by WikiTree to have open profiles. I'll be working with the profile managers and administrative team to fix this.

Hope this provides some better understanding the behind-the-scenes process at the Notbales Project. Thanks for bring the Osmond issue to our attention.
