[Baptized or christened about Oct 1810 in the Dutch Reformed Church in New Hurley, Ulster County, New York.]
[Married about Jul 1839.]
In 1840, he resided in Plattekill, Ulster County, New York.
In 1850, he resided in Newburgh, Orange County, New York with his wife and 5 children.
In 1855, he continued to reside in Newburgh, but now the household consisted of him, his wife, their 5 children, a 16 year old Irish immigrant servant girl, and 9 boarders ranging from age 18 to age 28. The 9 consisted of a teacher, a student, a shoe dealer, and 5 clerks. He is listed as merchant, now paralyzed.
In 1860, he continued to reside in Newburgh. The household consisted of him, his wife, their 5 children, and three (presumably unrelated) teenagers; probably servants or boarders.
He died in 1862 (possibly 2 Feb 1862) and was buried either at the Dutch Reformed Church cemetery in New Hurley, Ulster County, New York, or in Plattekill, NY. [Find A Grave indicates New Hurley, but Old Gravestones of Ulster County indicates Plattekill.]
Probate occurred on 22 Nov 1862 in Orange County, New York.
[For future research: Look into 26 Feb 1836, auction in Kingston, NY for which Simon was the executor for the estate of Peter Ostrander.]
