Luther was born on 22 November 1850 in the town of Upwell, district of Wisbech, Norfolk county, England.
His parents were Charles Overland, a wheelwright and carpenter, and Mary Matthews.[1] Luther's birth was registered the next day, on 23 Nov 1850, by his father Charles Overland, to registrar Robert Hartley.
On the 26th of August 1885 in Preston, Ontario, Canada, Luther Overland, 33 year old harness maker, son of Charles and Mary (née Matthews) Overland, married Merinda Ashley, 21, daughter of Joshua and Agnes (née Workman) Ashley. Witnesses to the wedding were Philip Drück and Joseph Huller, both of Preston. [2]
Luther passed away on 17 Feb 1943. He is buried in the Erin Cemetery, in Erin township, Wellington County, Ontario.[3]
