Fought in the Civil War. Had three wives and a ton of kids.

His obituary states that he was born in Erie, PA and came to Rock Island when he w as about 9 years old, which suggests that he came with his family. More research might be able to find them near Rock Island as well.

For whatever reason the 1910 census says he was born in Kentucky, but the 1900 census says he was born in Pennsylvania, his father was born in Pennsylvania, and his mother was born in New York. The 1900 census doesn't seem to have anyone else in his household but he's listed as married.
