There seems to be a generation missing. His mother is correct, but she married Pabenham-21, not Pabenham-12. John of Pabenham-12 was the father of Pabenham-21 and the grandfather of Thomas. This is another case of mistaking a father for a son when they have the same forename. Thomas's mother, Elizabeth, was referred to as both Clifford (her father's surname) and Criol (her mother's surname).
