Hi!

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

Free Space pages are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom .... They're "anything pages".

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out our Biography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, please ask!

Hello Joan & welcome to WikiTree,

I manage Mary E Hutchison's profile, not because of any expertise, but simply because I added her to WikiTree. I only know of her from the recollections of my father & grandmother who knew about her. I have added you to her trusted list.

When I joined WikiTree, I made the decision to add any people not already represented here, even when what I added lacked documentation. It was (and is) my hope that others, knowing more than I, and coming across these profiles, would improve them.

To me, that is the beauty of this site — nobody owns a profile; but trusted members can improve a profile.

You bring a lot of knowledge and expertise, and WikiTree will gain from that -- so too will I.

Again, welcome, and thank you for making contact,

Hi Joan

I see a new GEDCOM badge. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

Help pages give lots of info about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.

If you have brick walls, collaboration might help bust through. WikiTree has one profile for each person, so the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old).

Discussions tagged as GEDCOM in the G2G forum and brickwall.

Hello Joan!

How are you doing? Hope you're enjoying our site.

Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well.

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide.

Also Help Index with links to topics you may have questions on. Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

And of course, I'm here to help in any way I’m able. Just ask!

Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree. You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the Help section or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House, you might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Good luck growing your branches, Patt
