Mary Patterson is born about 1775. She is a daughter of Andrew Patterson and Jane Purdy.
She marries Peter Thompson about 1804 in Walker Twp, Cumberland, Pennsylvania, United States.
In 1810 Mary and Peter build their home on the homestead farm on Pioneer John Thomson in Delaware, Juniata, Pennsylvania.[1]
Mary is affectionately known by her friends as "Aunt Polly." She and Peter, called "Uncle Peter," were members of the "Seceder Congregation" which subsequently became the United Presbyterian Church at Mexico, Pennsylvania. The portion of the congregation in their neighborhood met at the Peter Thompson homestead with "Aunt Polly" as leader and instructor in the Bible and the Catechism both before and after the death of Peter Thompson in 1837.[1]
She died December 6, 1848 in Thompsontown, Juniata, Pennsylvania, United States.[2] She is buried in Thompson's Lock Cemetery in Thompsontown, Juniata, Pennsylvania, United States.[2] .
