Biography

Leonard was born 03 August 1919, son of Walter_Adolph_Payne and Lillian_Allensworth. Five months later, his mother died of Influenza in the Epidemic of 1919.

At age 3 he was left with his grandparents, Ichabod Payne and Lula Sibley. When his father remarried in 1929, Leonard, age 10, was once again united with his father.

In June of 1945, Leonard married Delores Cavelle Cutsinger. Delores, daughter of Dennis Hubert Cutsinger and Stella Elizabeth Johnson, was born 27 Oct 1923, in Ilasco, Ralls, Missouri. To this union were born:

Leonard L. Payne

LAFAYETTE -- Leonard L. "Len" Payne, 66, of Lafayette, died Friday.

He was born in Orange, California; he served in the Navy during World War II, and was a cattle rancher in California. He moved to the San Francisco area 20 years ago, retired in 1982, and moved to Lafayette.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; stepsons Mike Whitmarsh, Portland, and Patrick Whitmarsh, Pebble Beach, Calif., stepdaughter Beverly Whitmarsh, Alameda, Calif., and half brother, William Payne, California.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Macy and Son mortuary. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.
