2. MEREDITH (s.5) born about 1718 in Ri.Co.; married Tabitha, widow of William Woffendall, in the Fall of 1750; died intestate March 1751 in King George County. She married next George Strother in 1757.
In the same year (1746) Tabitha Woffendall gave bond as the Admx. of Wm. Woffendall, deceased.
5 April 1751 Tabitha was granted Admn of her husband's estate. 1755 she made a deed to Richard Payne (3), "uncle and heir-at-law of Jane Payne (1), only child and heir of said Meredith Payne".
1757 George Strother and wife Tabitha, late Tabitha Payne, widow, made a deed of slaves to which she was entitled as widow of William Woffendall. George Strother was son of Benjamin Stother and his wife Mary Woffendall. Benjamin Stother was Justice, Vestryman and Sheriff of King George County; he died in 1752. George Strother died in 1761, leaving a will. His home was on Gincoteague Cr., near Port Conway. His widow, Tabitha, left a will dated 1788 (1790), naming sons John and George Strother. No Paynes are mentioned in this will.
