History of Julia Elmira Peebles

Julia Elmira Peebles Lee died at the age of 93, after a lifetime of hard work to keep her family together. She was a small, (never over 100 pounds and only about five feet one or two inches) independent lady who would not accept charity in raising her family; only from her family would she accept any help and as soon as her children were old enough, she moved to Mobile where she worked in a cotton mill to support them. She managed to send the two younger daughters through high school. This lady was much respected and loved by the numerous members of her family, and, at her death in 1982, she left ninety-three living descendants-the majority of which attended her funeral.[2]
