George Peake was born circa 1720 and was living in Pittsylvania county, at the time of the American Revolutionary War. Pittsylvania was formed in 1767 out of Halifax County. George was not a soldier, but furnished a gun for the Pittsylvania County Militia. [1] In 1777, George took the Oath of Allegiance to the newly formed, United States. [2]
George is honored for his Patriotic Service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A086875.
