Biography

John Robinson Pennington was born on January 1, 1890, in Centertown, Cole, Missouri, to Charles Sylvester Pennington and Mary Magdelene (Allee) Pennington. ^[1][2]

Sometime before the 1900 census, his family, including a brother and two sisters, moved to Pilot Grove, Monitea, Missouri.^[3] He completed through the eight grade of his education.^[4]

Once he reached adulthood, he became a member of the clergy of the Baptist Church. As such, he and his family moved significantly during his career.^[5][6][7][8] He was tall and slender with brown eyes and hair.^[2] Sometime between 1930 and 1940, he left the ministry to become a farmer.^[4]

He was married to Lulu Mary Harbaugh on December 20, 1908, in Elm, Putnam County, Missouri.^[9] As of 1910, the couple, along with Lulu's older sister, were living in Liberty Ward 1, in Clay County, Missouri.^[5] They moved to Washington, Jackson, Missouri, for him to work for the Baptist Church in Washington, Missouri, sometime before June 1917, where he registered for the draft, claiming a wife and three sons. By the 1920 census, they were living in Blue, Jackson, Missouri^[6], and by 1925 they had moved to McPherson, Kansas.^[7] Between the birth of their daughter, called Roma E. and Johny E. in the census records, in 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri, and the 1930 census, the family had moved yet again, this time to Mankato, Blue Earth, Minnesota.^[8]

He, his wife, and his daughter moved back to Missouri before 1935, at which time they were living in rural Howell, Missouri, from where they moved to a farm in Cass, Texas, Missouri.^[4]

He died on April 21, 1973, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.^[10]
