Biography

Asalom "Asa" Penny is believed to have born in 1758 in Caroline County, Maryland. He married Comfort in approximately 1777.

There were 7 known children born to this union:

Asa and Comfort are believed to have resided in the Maryland and Delaware area until 1790. Records indicate that their first child Isaac was born in Delaware and second child Nancy was born in Maryland.

Records indicate that their third child Peter was born in Kentucky. However, their fourth child Lewis was listed as being born in Maryland on the 1850 census and being born in Delaware on the 1860 census, which is conflicts with the timing based on Peter's birth. Peter was born in 1791 and Lewis in 1796. Records indicate that their remaining three children were born in Kentucky.

The family relocated to Brown County, Ohio, USA sometime after the birth of their last child in 1804 and the the time of Asa's death in 1816. They resided on what became known as the Penny Family Farm, which is eventually where Asa and Comfort were laid to rest in what is known today as the Penny Family Cemetery. There are 7 known burials in the cemetery, but believed to be more.

Asa is believed to have passed away in Brown County, Ohio on 12 Mar 1816.

Hello, I've been doing some genealogical research on my heritage, and it led me to Asa and Comfort. I believe this is the Comfort you're referencing (https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/114462922/person/282394303249/facts). Asa was my 5th great grandfather.
