Biography

John was born 26 Dec 1748 to John Perkins and Patience Paddock[1].

In 1763, above the age of 14 years, John made the choice of Zachariah Paddock of Middleborough to be his guardian.[2]

Revolutionary War

1776 Project
John Perkins served with 4th Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

John enlisted in April 1775 and served 8 months as a private in Captain Joshua Benson's Company, John Cotton's who served under Theo Cotton Cotton-2614 Massachusetts Regiment. In April 1779 he again enlisted. This time he served four months on the Continental ship "Warren". Dudley Saltonstall Commandant. He then served 20 days as a private under Captain Amos Washburn. He enlisted again in June of 1780 and served 3 months as a private in Captain Sparrow's Company. Colonel Jacobs' Massachusetts Regiment. [3].

He married Hannah Gardner on 28 Aug 1772 in Middleborough[4]. Intentions were filed on 25 Aug 1772 in Middleborough[5].

According to his Revolutionary War pension file, he died on 10 Feb 1835 in Vermont.[3]

Research Notes

Middle names of children give credence to wife Hannah being Hannah Gardner and his mother being Patience Paddock.
