Biography

Johanna was born in 1814 and married in 1831, at the age of 17.[1] She and her husband Petter, must have adopted Carl Petterson's daughter Amanda sometime before 1871. In the 1841-1847 household records for Venevalla Västergard, Remmene parish, Anders and Johanna appear with 4 daughters and a son. The oldest daughter was born in 1832 and the son, Anders Petter in 1844. The 1847-58 record book still has them at Venevalla Västergard.[2] [3] In the household records for 1858-65, Anders and his wife Johanna are listed as "undantag" (former owners, but with some rights to sustenance) of their farm (Venevalla Västergard.[4] Operation of the farm has been assumed by Johannes Johansjon from Tarsled, the husband of their oldest child Christina.

In 1863 Anders and Johanna move to Venevalle Rättaregård along with their two sons, Anders Petter (age 16) and Gustaf (age 11, where their daughter Anna and her husband Carl Pettersson had been, while Anna and Carl move away. Anders appears to be the farm owner. Son-in-law Carl Pettersson and his wife Anna returned to the farm in 1865, but not as owners. They left again in 1866. Anders, Johanna, and the two sons were still there in 1871.[5] Their daughter Anna died in 1867 and at sometime between 1867 and 1871,

Anders and Johanna adopted Amanda, the daughter of Anna and Carl Pettersson after Anna died and Carl remarried and emigrated to America. She lived with them until 1880, when she was 15 years old. It appears that Amanda married in 1884 and moved to Siene.

The household record for 1871-1884[6] has Anders still living at Venevalle Rättaregård as undantag. His youngest son, lives with him. Johanna died of cancer in 1880[7]. Their son, Anders Peter, became the farm owner and is married with 3 children in 1884. Anders died in 1893[8]
