Revolutionary War Veteran
Private Samuel Phetteplace, Junior served in the Revolutionary War under Captain David Burlingame. His service, and several lines of descent, are recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Samuel Phetteplace was born in 1735 in Rhode Island. He was the son of Samuel Phetteplace and Abigail (Hammond) Phetteplace. In 1757, he married Ruth Phillips in Glocester, Providence County, Rhode Island.[1] He was called Samuel Junior. He passed away in 1813 in Norwich, Chenango, New York, United States.[2]
In the 1800 United States Federal Census for Glocester, Providence, Rhode Island, there are two Samuel Petteplace's, a Walter, Eddy and Elicam Petteplace, along with several others that look like they might also be Phetteplace's. They are all on FHL film 218680.
