Biography

Joseph Phinney was born on 14 March 1757 in Gorham, Maine. His parents were Edmund Phinney and Elizabeth (Meserve) Phinney[1].

He married Susanna Crockett on 18 June 1780[2]. They had eight children[3]:

1. Mary, born 17 Mar 1781; married Samuel Shaw
2. Eunice, born 29 Oct 1783; married Ithiel Blake
3. Hannah, born 25 Jul 1787
4. Stephen; married Nancy Dorsett
5. Nathaniel, born 25 Jul 1790; married Lucy Blake
6. Rebecca, born 14 Apr 1794
7. Phebe, born 20 Apr 1797; died young
8. Patience, born 26 Oct 1799; married Ebenezer Files

Joseph passed away on 10 September 1825[4].
