John married Anna Rosina Countryman in about 1750. [1][2]
He served as a Quartermaster for the Continental Army.[3] Specifically, he served as QuarterMaster for the First Regiment , Tryon Militia.[4][5]
He was a Revolutionary soldier, as was his son.
Quarter Master in the Tryon County Militia, 1st Regiment, serving under Col. Samuel Campbell. The regiment was usually referred to as Campbell's Regiment or as [Col. Samuel] Clyde's Regiment.[6]
Research Notes
Probably the "John Pickard" listed as one of the Canajoharie district representatives at the first Tryon County meeting of the Continental Congress in June 1775.[7]
A first cousin once removed, John Conrad Pickard (1756-1536), served as Ensign in the same 1st Regiment of the Tryon County Militia, under the spelling "John Pickert".[8]
