Biography

John married Anna Rosina Countryman in about 1750. [1][2]

He served as a Quartermaster for the Continental Army.[3] Specifically, he served as QuarterMaster for the First Regiment , Tryon Militia.[4][5] He was a Revolutionary soldier, as was his son.

Quarter Master in the Tryon County Militia, 1st Regiment, serving under Col. Samuel Campbell. The regiment was usually referred to as Campbell's Regiment or as [Col. Samuel] Clyde's Regiment.[6]

Research Notes

Probably the "John Pickard" listed as one of the Canajoharie district representatives at the first Tryon County meeting of the Continental Congress in June 1775.[7]

A first cousin once removed, John Conrad Pickard (1756-1536), served as Ensign in the same 1st Regiment of the Tryon County Militia, under the spelling "John Pickert".[8]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
