Margaret Ida aka Maggie Pickering was born on 10 February 1867, in Garner Township, Union County, Arkansas. Her parents were John Spencer Pickering, Sr. and Sarah A. M. Wroten Pickering.^{[1] [2]}

Research Note: Was Maggie another of those era women who refused to admit to being unmarried past 18 years of age? Either she fibbed about her age for her marriage record or the date of birth inscribed on her gravestone is not correct, but who knew that someone might check 130 years later.

Maggie and John almost certainly settled in Calhoun Township, Columbia County, Arkansas where both their birth families were living at the time of their marriage and where they were living as of the 1900 census. ^[5]

Maggie died on 8 July 1924 in Calhoun Township where she had lived her entire life and was buried near her parents in the Village Cemetery, Village, Columbia County, Arkansas. ^[1]
