Biography

Emma (or Sarah Emma) Pickett was born in 1851 at Newland near Witney in Oxfordshire. She was the daughter of William Pickett and his wife Rachel, born Rachel Slatter. ^{[1] [2] [3] [4]}

Sarah Emma Pickett was baptised at the parish church of Cogges in Oxfordshire on 12 September 1852, as the daughter of William and Rachel Pickett of Newland. Her father was a labourer. ^[2]

In the 1861 census Emma Prickett [sic] was living in the High Street at Witney with her parents William and Rachel and their other children. Her age was given as 11, implying a birth date in 1849 or 1850. Her birthplace was given as Coggs, Oxfordshire. ^[3]

In the 1871 census Emma Prickett was living in Gloucester Place in Witney with her parents, her sister Rachel, and her aunt. Her age was given as 19, implying a birth date in 1851 or 1852. Her birthplace was given as Coggs, Oxfordshire. She was a wool weaver. ^[5]

Henry James Gotobed and Sarah Emma Pickett or Prickett, both of Witney, were married at Witney parish church on 25 December 1875. ^{[6] [4]}

Their daughter Sarah Emma Gotobed was born in 1876 and died shortly afterwards. ^{[7] [8]}
