Biography

She founded Lady Manners School 20 May 1636.

Her body is interred at Bakewell Parish Church.

  • "Sir George Manners 1573 - 1623 married Grace Pierrepoint and later Frances Cavendish. They had nine children: John, Henry, Roger, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Frances, Dorothy and Mary. Henry and Roger appear to have died young. One child died in infancy."
  • Ro[ger] Manners to Sir Robert Cecil. 1593, Aug. 2. "Yesterday, as I am informed, was appointed the day for a marriage betwixt my nephew George Manners, my lord your father's servant, and Mrs. Grace Perpoynt at Chatchworth, effected by the old Countess. Wherein I assure you I was no party. - From Uffington, 2 August, 1593."
