Biography

Rachel was one of two known children of Jeremiah & Rachel (Maynor) Piggott. Her paternal grandparents were John & Margarery (Browne) Piggott from Maryland.

Rachel's only known sibling was an older brother Jeremiah.

On 24 Oct 1793 in Cane Creek, Orange County, NC Rachel married Joshua Buckingham. The couple had six children while living in Orange County, NC.[1]

In 1823 the family moved to Indiana where they settled in Randolph County.

It was the Pikes and the Picketts who first used the mound, near the present Meeting-house for burials. This began in 1833. The land and burying-ground for the Meeting-house was not acquired from John Pike till 1836.

Rachel passed away on 7 Sep 1844, in Jericho, Randolph, Indiana, United States. [2]

Piggott-561 and Piggott-175 appear to represent the same person because: Dates for birth, death, husband’s name are the same.
