Biography

This profile is part of the Pike Name Study.

In 1795, William and his brother, Jotham, came to Stratton Gore, Vermont, with their mother, Anna. They settled into a log cabin owned by their half-brother, Joshua Grant. The next year they were joined by their father, Samuel Pike. By 1800, William had settled into a house of his own. His mother Anna and his twin sister (also named Anna) lived with him for a time. In 1802 William married Myranda Scott. He continued to lead a prominent industrious life in Somerset and Stratton. He and Myranda lived out their latter years with his daughter Tryphena and Rufus Lyman's family. He died in 1865 of typhoid fever and was interred in Willis Cemetery.[1]
