NOTES for Auguste Joseph Pitre:

- Estate of Auguste Joseph Pitre (filed 4 April 1859): To the Honorable the 15th Judicial district court of the State of Louisiana in and for the parish of St. Landry. The petition of Dalicourt Joubert and Augustin Pierre Belair both of the parish of St. Landry with respect represents: That Auguste J. Pitre died lately in the parish aforesaid where he resided leaving a succession composed of land, slaves and movable property and only two heirs, viz: Melasie Pitre, wife of your petitioner and Adeline Pitre a minor. That it is necessary that an administrator or administrators should be appointed by this honorable court to administer and settle the succession of said deceased. The promises considered your petitioners pray that they be appointed administrators of the succession of Auguste J. Pitre, if no opposition is made to their application for said administration, after the usual legal advertisements and for general relief and as in duty bound. By their attorney M.&C. Mouton Let the prayer of the petitioners be granted. It is therefore ordered that the application of Dalicourt Joubert & Augustin Pierre Belair be advertised ten days in the Opelousas Courier. Given under my hand and seal at Opelousas this 4th day of April 1859. L. Lastrapes

- Inventory included property $1200, Julien (mulatto) age about 35 years ($1000), Marguerite (mulatto) age about 32 years & daughters Angele about 8 & Josephine about 5 ($1300 as a group), Marguerite's daughter Celestine (mulatto) age about 12 years ($700), horses, cattle, hogs, sheep: $5680.50.

- 26 April 1859: At the residence of the late Auguste J. Pitre (about 10 miles from the courthouse) to auction the movable property of the late Auguste Joseph Pitre. Heir Marie Adeline Pitre, wife of Adolph Cyprien Belaire Fontenot has a hearing before the judge as to whether it is in her best interests to borrow money during her husband's absence (private in the 16th Regiment of LA volunteers), to pay debts due on her parents' estate (Auguste J. Pitre & Melanie Bramme), both deceased; and to mortgage her share of the land she owns with her sister Melanie Pitre wife of Augustin Belaire. Family meeting composed of Louis Bramme, Etienne Bramme, Napoleon Andrepont, Joachin Louis Pitre. She is allowed to borrow $1200 against a tract of land to pay the debts.

- 5 February 1862: The petition of Odile Derbes widow of Jean Baptiste Bellocq, of Auguste Noblom, and Pierre Roy all residents of the parish of Orleans doing business as merchants in N.O. under the name of Bellocq Noblom & Co. They are creditors of the estate $392.84, with interest from 26 April 1858, for advances made said deceased.
