Courier and Freeman, Potsdam, 1 May 1918: Lewis Peet dies at Aldrich: Funeral services Held on Sunday at Parishville: Parishville, May 1: The remains of Lewis C. Peet were brought home Saturday April 27 from Aldrich N.Y. He was born in Hopkinton Sept. 27, 1852 and his early life was spent there. October 25, 1880, he was united in marriage to Sophia F. Hurteau of St. Aniscent, Quebec. The family moved to Parishville thirty-six years ago and he was employed by S.L. Clark & Son for 27 years. The past few years he went with his family to work at the Loon Lake House. He leaves his wife, two daughters, Irma of Willsboro, N.Y., and Mrs. A.V. Henderson of Aldrich, two sons Plin of Lucky Lake, Sask., Canada, and Clark of Niagara Falls, and a son-in-law A.V. Henderson of Aldrich. His son Plin came to spend a few days with his father during his illness and was accompanied by his daughter Vivian. He was a conscientious Christian man and much devoted to his church, having been a member of the Baptist Church twelve years. Relatives from out of town to attend the funeral were Mr. And Mrs. Jno. Hurto of Burke, Eddie and William Peet and Mr. And Mrs. Joseph White of Hopkinton, Mrs. Paul Prespare and daughter Alice of Tupper Lake, Mr. And Mrs. N.L. Dodge and daughter Hazel, Mr. And Mrs. Joseph Maxwell, Mr. And Mrs. A.F. Flint and son Neil, Donald Spencer, Henry Page, Raymond Drake and Chas. Stiles of Moira, H.S. Clark, Mr. And Mrs. Winford Smith of Potsdam, Mrs. Mary Cregg of Hopkinton. The funeral was from the home on Pleasant St. Saturday afternoon at two. Rev. E.E. Barrett officiating, and interment was in Hill Crest cemetery.

Courier & Freeman, Parishville, May 15, 1940 — The funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Huteau Peet whose demise on May 3rd was mentioned in this column last week was held from the Peet home Monday afternoon, May 6th at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Monmouth H. Horton, pastor of the Baptist church at Potsdam, officiated and interment was made in the family plot at Hillcrest cemetery. The bearers were Ernest Bruce of Moira, Royal Hunt, Guy Delong. Fav Duffy, Ray Collins and Leonard Bisnett. The great profusion of floral offerings were magnificent and silently bespoke the great esteem in which the deceased was held. Among the friends from out of town who attended the rites were Frank Harteau of Burke, Mr.and Mrs. Frank Harteau of Alburg,Vt., Mrs. Joseph Hurteau of Constable, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Stuart and daughter, Miss Beulah of Colton, Miss Blanche B. Beery, Mrs. Bertha Sanford, Mrs. Lewis Dewey, Mrs. Minnie Robson and Miss Ethel Jesmer of Potsdam, Mrs. Emmett O'Brien and Miss Mary O'Leary of Canton, Mr. And Mrs. Oliver Durochcr of Dundee, Quebec, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bruce of Moira, Miss June Jarvis of Winthrop and Ross Carroll of Syracuse. Mrs. Peet was born May 6, 1859, the daughter of John and Florence Hureau in Malone. On October 25, 1880, she was united in marriage with Lewis Peet at Fort Covington. They made their home in this village and for many years Mr. Peet was an employee of the Simeon L. Clark and Son Lumber Company. To them were born four children, Pliny, now of Syracuse, Clark, who is principal of Lasalle street high school at Niagara Falls, Cressy, Mrs. Alvin Henderson of Oswego and Irma, a teacher in one of the Niagara Falls schools. Miss Irma was confined in a hospital quite seriously ill at this time and great sympathy is felt for her by her hosts of friends that she could not be with her family here. Mrs. Peet is also survived by two grandchildren, Miss Vivian Peet and Clayton Peet both of Syracuse, one sister, Mrs. Frank Struthers of South Hadley, Mass., and two brothers, Frank Hurteau of Burke and Stephen Hareau of Cazaville, Canada. She was a very faithful member of the local Baptist church and of Parish Chapter, No. 91 O.E.S. We note that the day of her burial would have been her 81st birthday. The Peet family is one of our most highly respected ones and their devotion to each other is noteworthy. For many years since the death of Mr. Peet, Mrs. Peet has spent the winter months with her daughter, Mrs. Henderson, and the summers at her home here with Miss Irma and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Peet.

Cressie F. Peet: Courier Freeman, Thursday 8 May 1958: Parishville: The body of Mrs. Cressie Peet Henderson was buried here at Hillcrest cemetery last Saturday. She was a former resident and teacher here for years.

Clark Jay Peet: Potsdam Courier-Freeman, Thursday 2 February 1967: Parishville: Word was received here last Saturday of the death of Clark Peet in Castile. Mr. Peet was born and raised in Parishville. He was the son of Lewis and Sophia Peet. He married the former Hazel Dodge of Moira. Burial will be in Parishville in the spring.

Irma Peet: Potsdam Courier-Freeman, April 1955: Parishville – Funeral services were held Parishville — Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Miss Erma Peet, 62. Rev. Frank Johnston officiated and burial was made in Hillcrest cemetery. Bearers were Royal Hoyt, Gerald Washburn, Fay Duffy and Ernest Bruce. Miss Peet died Saturday noon, Apr. 2, 1955, at her home of a heart attack. She had been suffering from a heart condition for two years. She was born in Parishville Dec. 14, 1892, daughter of Louis and Sophia Hurteau Peet. She graduated from Parishville High School in 1911 and from Potsdam Normal in 1914. Upon graduation she went to Massena for two years and then, taught three years in Wilsboro. In 1919 she went to Niagara Falls, teaching there until she had to retire two years ago because of poor health. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Alvin (Cressy) Henderson of Oswego and two brothers, Plin C. Peet of Syracuse and Clark Peet of Castile, N. Y.
