Biography

George was born in about 1815 in Kentucky, USA. He was the son of Jonathan Pitts and Winna (Watkins) Pitts.^[1][2][3]

In the 1850 census Washington (age 35) was in Montgomery, Kentucky, United States.^[1]

When George was about 28 he married Sarah Ellen Morrison on 1 February 1843 in , Floyd County, Kentucky, USA. The couple had 12 children: George Washington Pitts, Mary Ann Pitts, Henry William Pitts, Thomas I. Pitts, Emily Jane Pitts, John Daniel Pitts, Clemmy Pitts, Izonia Pitts, Israel Pitts, Sarah Alice Pitts, Alfred Pitts and Nancy Ellen Pitts.^[4]

In 1880 George (age about 60) was living in Slate, Menifee County, Kentucky, USA. CENSUS RECORDS^[5]

GW married Lucinda Frisby on 13 July 1887 in Menifee, Kentucky, United States.^[6] She was about 53 years younger than him. He was about 72; she was perhaps 19.

Apparently the couple split up, and Lucinda remarried about 1897.

In the 1900 census George (age 87) was the divorced head of household in Magisterial District 4, Menifee, Kentucky, United States.^[7]

George died at the age of about 92 on 1 December 1907 in Menifee County, Kentucky, USA.^[4]

George was buried after 1 December 1907 in Pitts Cemetery, Spaus Creek, Menifee County, Kentucky, USA.^[8][9]
