Biography

This is Robert's bio from Plaxco-Robinson book, Plaxco-Robinson]; being an account of two of the ancient Presbyterian families of upper South Carolina (particularly situated in York and Chester Counties) by Mendenhall, Samuel Brooks; 1958, page 31.

Robert Madison Plaxico. Born April 30, 1837. Died March 25, 1909. Buried at Smyrna A.R.P. Church Cemetery. He was a sergeant in the Confederate Army, distinguishing himself in many engagements. He was a member of Co. A, 12th SCV, Lee’s Sharpshooters. One of his commanding officers, writing his memoirs, referred to Sgt. Plaxico as “the brave Sergeant Plaxico.” Robert Madison Plaxico married first Martha Jane Sherer, who was born December 1, 1839, and died July 8, 1865. She was the daughter of Richard Sherer and Jane Miller. Robert Madison Plaxico married second Nancy Emily McGill, on November 13, 1866. She was born October 30, 1841, and died July 12, 1914.
