When he was 25 he married Frances Reives in Chatham County, North Carolina. They had six children together, two sons, and four daughters.
He passed away in 1901 in Pittsoboro and was buried in Pittsboro Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
He was mentioned as a child of Hasten Poe in a 1910 article in the Chatham Record that speculated about a possible fortune belonging to the Poe family.[1]
