Biography

James Pope was born on May 7, 1775. He was baptized on May 28, 1775 in Saint Leonards, Shoreditch, London, England. James was the son of James and Elisabeth Pope.

James married Mary Ann Unknown. They and their children resided in a few locations in Middlesex County, England including Norton Folgate and Shoreditch. On December 16, 1816, James, his wife Mary Ann Pope, and their children including John Henry age 15, Ann age 12, George Samuel age 10, Joseph age 8, William age 2, and Frederick age 3 mos., were evicted and because of poverty they were given to the care of Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor by the Justices of the Court.

James passed away in Stepney, London, England in 1852.
