  • Note: Early Census records used several terms that are frowned upon today. These included words like Colored, Slaves, etc. In the process of doing an accurate transcription of the records in question, these words may come up in my transcriptions. It is in no way meant to be taken in a racial context, but in transcribing the document, one must type out word for word what is said on the document for an accurate transcription.

  • Family Data Collection Records in Individual Records, Birth, Death, and Marriage are to be treated only as clues due to their lack of information on the source of the original data. The Data collected in these collections were entered into a database which was created during a study of human genetics and disease. In this study, the original source of the information was not recorded so no analysis of the original source and the data that it contained can be made through the Genealogical proof method. Therefore without the original source data, the data in these databases can only be treated as a clue without further research to back up the information contained within this database with sources that can be analyzed through the Genealogical proof method.
  • Census Records prior to 1880 Census Records did not show the relationship of the individuals to the head of the household. Therefore they can only be treated as clues in terms of determining parentage and relationship between siblings.

On the 1830 census there are two girls listed as being under five (so born between 1825 and 1830) one of them is Nancy Rebecca (Porter) Akers but the other doesn't seem to be accounted for. It's possible that that's Ruth Ann (Porter) Dixon. Her parentage is unknown and her maiden name is listed as several different things by different children on her death certificate. Perhaps she married more than once.
