https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/civilian_conservation_corps based in Missoula Montana Delmer Howard Porter, was born at Johns Creek, KY, the youngest child of John Walker Porter and Arminta Wells Porter, his siblings always said he was the pet of the family, but they all had to help on the farm. August of 1939, he married my Mom Rema Music, She was 14. A year later they had me, they would have five children last one being born 1959, When I was two they came to WV and he went to work in the mines, his brother Dewey was already working and got him the job, later on he would become an electrician in the mines Everyone liked him and called him Two Gun I guess because he was a trader and got the deal he wanted. He worked all night, but come Friday he would load us up and head to Kentucky for the weekend, He and Mom both had all their relatives there. He loved his family. I can still hear him when he went to the store on Payday, come in and holler, come look what Daddy got you all. He was a very strict parent, If he cut a limb off the tree, no use to run, you could stay two days, he would be standing in the same place waiting, but he had a heart of Gold The first time I ever seen tears in his eyes, is when I left home for Washington DC to go to work. The first payday I got was less than my telephone bill. He and Mom raised good kids. later on as we married and had our first children, we found out he didn't even like us, boy did he love those grandkids, we all started moving back to WV, which he loved, then when he went to the store he would stop by our houses and toot his horn and holler come up and look what Papaw got you. Dad retired from Youngstown mines after thirty one years. He is buried at Forest Lawn cemetery, Logan Co. WV
