William Porter was born about 1766 in Hampshire, England as the ninth child of Thomas Porter and Ann Millard. He had eight siblings, namely: Anne, Hannah, Mary, Thomas, Sarah, Elizabeth, Martha, and John. He died in Jul 1846 in Hampshire, England. When he was 31, he married Olive Boyes, daughter of Henry Boyes and Mary White, on 09 Nov 1797 in Privett, Hampshire, England.

William Porter was baptized on 18 May 1766 in West Tisted, Hampshire, England. He was living there in 1841 and was buried there on 02 Aug 1846.

William Porter and Olive Boyes had the following children:

At the 1841 census William was about 75 and an Agricultural Labourer living at West Tisted, Hampshire, England with his wife Olive (about 65) and children Hanah (about 20) and Charles (6). [1]

The family existed at a time when the British Agricultural Revolution had created a struggling class of agricultural workers leading to the Swing Riots around 1830 and later The Parliamentary Enclosure Acts of 1856 creating legal property rights helping to stabilise the agricultural industry.

Death

In late Jul 1846 William died in Hampshire, England. [6] [3]
