Ann (Porter) Stevens was born in Hampshire, England.

Ann Porter was baptised on 25 Apr 1815 at West Tisted, Hampshire, England, probably at St Mary Magdalene the daughter of William. a labourer and Olive Porter from West Tisted.[1][2] Ann had ten siblings, namely: Charlotte, Henry, Louisa, Sarah, Rebecca, Lucy, Thomas, William, Harriet, and Hannah. She died on 26 May 1886 in Binsted, Hampshire, England. When she was 22, she married George Knight, son of George Knight and Elizabeth Coombs, on 17 Jun 1837 in West Tisted, Hampshire, England. When she was 47, she married William Stevens on 02 Aug 1862 in Binsted, Hampshire, England.

Ann was baptized in 1815 in West Tisted. We know she lived in Binsted, Hampshire, England in 1841 and was there very census year until 1881.

George Knight and Ann Porter had the following children:

In 1841 Ann, aged about 25, was living at Binsted, Hampshire, England with her husband George, an Agricultural Labourer aged about 20, and infant sons John (3) and George (1). [7]

Residence 1851

At the time of the 1851 census on 30 Mar, Ann aged 34 was still living at Binsted, Hampshire, England with her husband George (31), an Agricultural Labourer, and children Charles (15) and John (13), also Agricultural Labourers, George (10), Lucy (8), Henry (6), William (4), Thomas (2) and Harriet (10 months). [4]

Residence 1861

On 7 Apr 1861 Ann was living at Judes Farm, Binsted, Hampshire, England but, by then, was a widow working as an Agricultural Labourer. The children with her were John (23) and George (20), both Agricultural Labourers, Henry (16) a Shepherd, Thomas Knight (13), an Under Carter, Harriett (10) and James (9) both scholars and Frederic (2). [8] Jude's Farm was probably at Jude, adjacent to Jude's Copse that still exists today and can be seen two-thirds of the distance between Binsted and Kingsley on 'Sheet 036' of a British History Online map. [9]

Marriage to William Stevens

Banns of Marriage for Ann Porter and William Stevens were first read on 13 Jul 1862 and they were married on 02 Aug 1862 at Binsted, Hampshire, England. [10]

Residence 1871

By the time of the census on 2 Apr 1871 Anne's second husband William Stevens had died. She was aged 59 and a Pauper living at Blacknest, Hampshire, England with her son Fred aged 12. [11]

Residence 1881

On 3 Apr 1881 Ann aged 68 was a servant in the household of Charles Carter at Glenbusie House, Alton, Hampshire, England. [12]

Death

At the age of 75, on 26 May 1886, Ann, the widow of William Stevens a Farm Laborer, died of Jaundice at Binsted, Hampshire, England. [13] [14]
