DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:
Hello, I believe that one of Joseph's children you have listed as 'Eliza' is supposed to be 'Elijah', and should be married to 'Amanda'. I did check your sited source in the Pickin' up the Porters book, but it differs from my research on Ancestry.com and I believe the names aren't correct. If possible, could you please verify for me that Eliza was born in 1834 in Kentucky? Joseph's children are all whom I have in my tree and I am a descendent of this Elijah Porter and Amanda Hardin :)
Porter-14168 and Porter-2248 appear to represent the same person because: Wiki didn't pick up Joseph, but it did Mary, after I'd already entered a (duplicate) profile for Joseph... If you could merge them, that'd be great...
