Simon Porter was the younger brother of Fulk Porter of Upper Ettington, Warwickshire. He was aged 19 when his older brother Fulk died. Simon owned a share of the manor of Southam, Warwickshire, and together with his son Thomas, in 1605 made a 1000 year lease of it. However, Sir Thomas Porter had livery of that portion of the manor in 1619-20 (which may be when Simon Porter died).
"Capt. Thomas Thorpe was twice married; first to Margaret, daughter of Sir Thomas Porter, who d.s.p.; and secondly to Margaret, daughter of David Harris; she d. 1629." [THE GENESIS OF THE US, by Alexander Brown, Vol. 2 (1890), p. 1031]
