Biografia

Biography

Illegitimate son of Luis, duke of Beja, and briefly (for approximately 20 days in 1580) king of Portugal. After his defeat at the Battle of Alcântara, António was obliged to flee to France. After an aborted attempt to conquer the Azores, he went into impoverished exile in France and England, before dying.

Antonio was born in 1531. He was the son of Unknown Gómez de Portugal. He passed away in 1595.
