When John Beaver Post was born on July 4, 1849, in Cherokee Co., Georgia, his father, William, was 55 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 45.[1] He married Caroline 'Carrie' Elva Woodall (1855-1927) on July 30, 1881, in her hometown by Presbyterian minister, Willis Weaver.[2] They had six children:
He died on March 15, 1902, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 52, and was buried there.[4]

John Beaver Post was the son of William L. Post and Elizabeth Rebecca "Becky" Chapman. Although he was born in GA, he spent his years growing up in AR, Benton Co. He was a fur trader as well as his father and brothers. They traded with the Cherokee Indians. He married Caroline E. "Carrie" Woodall (1/4 Cherokee) on July 31, 1881. They lived at the old Post Place (a log cabin) in Woodall, OK, southwest of Tahlequah, OK.
He was the half-brother of Mary Arminda Post Gladney; Tatnall Holt Post; and John Marion Post. He had two sisters: Algerine Post Robbins and Rebecca Caroline Robbins. Other children according to the 1850 Census of Benton County, AR, Ball Township, include Joseph W. then age 11; and Pleasant 7 years, both born in GA.
John Beaver Post and Caroline Woodall Post had six children: William "Will" T. Post, Margaret Post Anderson, Andrew "Andy" Post, Maude Adelaide Post Steeley, Charles Henry Post, and Daniel D. "Pat" Post.
