Biography

Nicolas Prejean was born 7 July 1704. He was the son of Jean Prejean and Andrée Savoye[1] [2]. He was baptized 27 July 1704 at Port Royal. His godparents were Nicolas Didier dit la Fond, sergeant of a company and Magdelaine Baptisse.[3]

Nicolas married first Marguerite Broussard (born in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France; daughter of Pierre Broussard and Marguerite Bourg) about 1733 in Acadie. [2][1]

Their children were: [2]

  1. Louison Prejean (about 1734–about 1758)
  2. Marie Prejean (about 1736–1759)
  3. Pierre Prejean (about 1740–1741)
  4. Jeanne Prejean (about 1743– )
  5. Rose Prejean (about 1744– )
  6. Cecile Prejean (about 1748– )
  7. Gabriel Prejean (about 1751–about 1759)

He married a second time to Anne (Jeanne) Samson ca 1752[4]

They had:

  1. Jean-Baptiste b. abt 1754 in Port Toulouse, d. 18 Aug, 1771 in L'Ardoise, Nova Scotia
  2. Louis d. abt 1758 at sea
  3. Anne d. abt 1758 at sea
  4. Charles d. abt 1758 at sea

He arrived at St. Malo, France, on the ship "La Reine d'Espagne" on 17 Nov 1758[2], with his sons Gabriel & Jean-Baptiste and his daughter Marie (widow of Charles Samson). Jeanette died while at sea.

He married a third time, to Euphrasie Labauve on 8 January 1760 in Saint-Servan, Saint-Malo, Brittany, France. The marriage record indicates that Nicolas is the Widower of Anne Samson & that his new wife Euphrasie LABAUVE is the widow of Jacques Convenance. [5]

He passed away 31 March 1765 at about age 60[1][2] and was buried at Landivisiau, near Morlaix, Finistere, France.
